Kids

One of my favorite comments Lyric said to me yesterday, with a very serious face,
"Mom, I think you need a time out right now."

I Tried

Well, it had been ------ months since I rode my recumbent bike. I will not tell you because you would be appalled! And don't let the months part deceive you, I put months to make myself feel better! Anyway, last week I decided to start up again. I figure there are enough times that I am sitting on the couch watching TV, that I might as well be doing the bike! I was doing my fourth night and- it broke! I was so upset! I know it was a cheapo from Wal-Mart, but still, I didn't expect it to break so fast! This is my second one, by the way! Would the third be my lucky charm, I don't know if I want to find out!

Friendly Greeter

Lyric loves to get into Paxton's crib when he wakes up from naps. He actually really likes it too! They play for a while until they're ready to get out. I love hearing the giggling coming from the room!

Bella Dancerella

All ready to start
She decided she needed her "Giselle" dress!
She even wanted her ballet shoes to match the girls on TV
Making sure her feet are in the correct position!

Last night I did a solo trip to our nearest Super Wal-Mart. I prefer to hit this store up when I am without kids, well Mike either! He hates that I take an obscene amount of time at each section of the store! Since it is the grocery and regular Wal-Mart combined, I can be in there for a good two hours.
So, I was looking at their toy clearance section and found this "Bella Dancerella." It looked like something Lyric would enjoy, so I decided to get it for her. I don't typically by toys "just because," but this was cheap enough to feel worth it.
She saw it this morning and immediately fell in love! It comes with a light up, singing wand, a mat, and a music DVD. It's actually really cute. It teaches them some ballet and princess moves.
The only frustrating part for her is that her brother wants to attack the mat!

Mr. Postman

All ready for dance!
Doing the "alligator" in their routine
Shakin' it!
Practicing with her partner

This year, Lyric's dance class is doing their routine to Mr. Postman, you know, "Wait a minute Mr. Postman!!" I absolutely love watching them practice their dance. There are about nine girls in her class, in the 3-4 year range. She is one of the younger ones, but does a great job. She loves going each week. She has an amazing teacher, and I think that helps a ton!

My Lyric

Lyric is dancing to one of the parts in The Chipmunk Movie

Lately, I've really been enjoying watching Lyric blossom and grow. She has so much passion for everything in life! She loves dance class, she absolutely loves Sunbeams at church, and of course, she loves her family. I think her favorite person right now is her baby brother. There is bond they have that only happens between siblings.

I love watching her learn things for the first time. Recently, we planted a few seeds in a miniature flower pot. She loves putting it in the sun every day, watering it, and watching its new growth each day.

I am so grateful for Lyric's happy personality in our home. She sure is a joy to have around!

This is the Face

This poor baby is right smack dab in the middle of the teething faze. As of right now he has four teeth that have popped through. His gums are so swollen. It seems like from six months to two years, you can blame their behavior on teething! He's doing a good job, though!

Two Birds With One Stone

Today, I took Lyric and Paxton to the doctor for shots. I intentionally made the appointment later in the afternoon so that Mike could come with me. He had something come up last minute, so he was not able to go. I felt a little hesitant taking them by myself, but I knew it needed to get done!
I was pleasantly surprised by the turnout. They both did very well. Lyric got one shot and Paxton got three. Neither of them cried at all! I was totally expecting at least a little bit of crying! I had been prepping Lyric for the past few days so she knew what to expect. She had just seen Lexi's band aids from her shots and I think that helped her.!

It's Official!

Paxton has joined the crawler's club! Last Friday, he started the army crawl. That quickly progressed to the real thing. I have to learn to be on my toes at all times again. This boy puts any particle of anything in his mouth that he finds as he is roaming around. There are things that we will quickly need to keep out of his reach, ie. Mike's beloved video game systems!
It is an exciting step, yet I also feel a little sad! What happened to my little guy that would just sit in the middle of the floor playing!?!? By the way, try not to be jealous of my 1 mega pixel pictures! I had to take them with my video camera, because I don't have a camera!

Precious

Every night, we say bedtime prayers with Lyric. When she was really young, we said them for her. As she got a little older, we would tell her what to say. Then, she started saying the same, two sentence prayer every night. Lately, we have been trying to teach her to say things that are important to her.
Recently, each night before the prayer, she tells us what she wants to pray about. It is so cute hearing her come up with her own ideas. Typically, it has something to do with an event from that day. This evening in her prayers she said, "I'm thankful for my grandma and for the light and dark lip colors." My mom was over for a few hours today. She had showed Lyric a myriad of colored lip gloss, and let Lyric pick out her favorite. So, that stood out in her mind the most today and it went into her prayers!
I just love the innocence of children. Their intentions are so pure. Mike and I look forward to hearing her prayers each night!

Am I the Only One?

Until I had kids, I never knew how precious an uninterrupted shower was! Seriously, who knew shower time is when kids need you the most!
Now that Paxton is somewhat mobile, I put him in the saucer so I know he is safe, well, as safe as you can be with a three year old sister spinning you like the teacups at Disneyland! I have Lyric put on a show to keep them entertained. I don't take ridiculously long showers, but they seem to always turn out this way! About half way through, Paxton is so done with the saucer. Then, Lyric has to go to the bathroom, and it's not just pee, so I have to wipe her. Then, she goes to wash her hands, and the water comes out hot. I try to tell her to turn the nob to the right to get it cold. She tries, but it's too hard with soapy hands. So, I tell her to come rinse her hands in the shower. She typically comes back in with lots of questions or needing help with a puzzle or something else. "Mommy can help you when she is done taking a shower!" I normally have to say this about seven times during my shower, unless, of course, there is a real problem I need to tend to!
I love taking a shower when Mike is home. I love knowing that I can actually shut the door and not have to open the curtain every thirty seconds! Oh, the things that can be taken for granted!

Finally!

After 13 months, I have finally put Paxton's bedding into the crib. I bought it while I was still pregnant. It is funny to think that with Lyric, I had the bedding totally done before she was born. With him, he's finally getting his put in at nine months old! Granted, Lyric was still using the crib when he was born. I think he is glad to not be sleeping in purple and pink anymore, haha!

Where's Paxton?

This is what I saw when I went to check on Paxton during his nap. It freaked me out for a second, because it really just looked like a blanket laying there! He has been doing this lately when he falls asleep. Another reason why I am glad I check on my kids 50 times while they sleep!

Another Birthday!

Today, my "little" brother turns 17! It is crazy to think that he is the youngest in our family. My parents no longer have toddlers to raise, they just have them running around in the form of grandchildren! I think that Ryan is going to be a great husband someday, who wouldn't with growing up with four older sisters!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN!!!!

Happy 6th Birthday!

Today, Miss Jordyn Lyn turns six years old! My, my how time flies! Yesterday we went to her birthday party. It was a fun Hawaiian themed party. They even learned how to hula!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JORDYN!!!
