His Latest

Paxton is now 27 months. He's never been into tv. From a very young age, Lyric loved Baby Einstein. I enjoyed this because I always knew it could buy me a little time.
So, I was surprised when something finally caught his interest.....Caillou. He has them all memorized and even does the funny laugh at the end of the intro song. He wakes up asking for it. He likes watching it right before bed, and any other time he can! We only have 12 DVR'd, so his options are limited ;) It's also on every morning. Lyric is such a nice sister and will often give into his impulsive, obsessive requests for it.
Mike thinks it's one of the weirdest shows around, but for some reason it doesn't seem to bug me much. Granted, his voice is a little annoying! And why is he bald? Anyways, I'm glad he's finally got something that will keep him quiet so I can take a shower knowing he's not using a screwdriver on the walls!

Preschool!

Here in California, Lyric misses the cut off for kindergarten by about ten days. I know she would be so ready to go, but at the same time, I don't mind the extra year.
We decided to start her in the same preschool that her cousins, Jordyn & Lexi, both went to. Today was her first day. She will be going Mon, Wed, and Fri from 9-12.
She has been so incredibly excited to start. She needs more than just her mom and brother a few days out of the week! I dropped her off, and without any hesitation, she ran off! On Wednesday, I had taken her in to show her around. She met some of the teachers and got familiar with things. It is a little Christian preschool, so they are able to incorporate that into their teachings.
When I went to get her, she started crying. I was worried that her day didn't go as good as I had hoped. Well, the problem ended up being that she wanted to stay for lunch!
Dropping her off gave me a feeling that I have not yet experienced. It was such a strange feeling to just say good bye and go! I wanted to make sure everyone was nice, and that she would feel included, but that's just not quite possible to have control of every aspect of your child's life! I know this will be a very fun year for her!

Doctor Time

Today I took Lyric and Paxton to the doctor to get caught up on shots. Lyric is about to start preschool, so that was my motivation!

I had been prepping Lyric for a week about the shots. She is a planner and really likes to know things in advance. So, everyday she would say, "Mom, is it five days till shots now?" She did that each day, up until the appointment.

I had Paxton get his shots first. He got four of them. He didn't cry, he just got a little angry at the nurse. Lyric was next. She got two. She let out a very emotional cry. That surprised me, but it shouldn't have. That girl wears her emotions on her sleeve and has no problem showing them! She quickly recovered and we were on our way.

Paxton's Stats:
36 1/2" - 75th percentile
35lbs - 97th percentile

Lyric's Stats:
46" - 97th percentile
55lbs - above 97th percentile

Facebook & Morro Bay

At lunch. It only took an hour to get our food!
Paxton was obsessed with Connor's binkie!

Lyric getting sand for her sand castle.
Paxton would not go near the ocean!
She loved running into the waves.
Paxton and Connor eating our Subway picnic.
The kids having a sand war!
Paxton and Connor pulling their boogie boards to the beach!

Earlier this year, I decided to join Facebook. About two months ago I got a friend request from a childhood friend. We had been really close friends, and then lost touch when my family moved after my freshman year of high school. I was so excited to see her on Facebook! She was someone that I had always wondered about. I have been able to find some people from my past that I have often thought about through Facebook!
Turns out she has two little boys that are my kid's age and she was married one day shy of a year after my anniversary! We met up and were able to catch up. She invited my kids and I to go with her to Morro Bay. Her inlaw's have a beach house there. So we loaded up our four kids and took off for three days!
It was a lot of fun. The kids got along great and the weather was awesome, 65 instead of 105! Can't beat that! We went to a fun park, the tide pools, Pismo Beach, and Avala. Of course we had to hit up a few stores for ourselves :) That was a fun adventure with the two year olds that didn't have strollers to sit in!
Sadly, we didn't get a picture of the two of us.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game.....

Tonight we were able to go to a baseball game with Jamie and her family. For $11 per ticket we got: hot dog & soda, a ticket to a water park, a ticket to miniature golf, and obviously got to see the game! The water park alone would have been $26.
It was so incredibly humid and warm, but we made a fun time out of it. We only stayed through the fifth inning. By 8:30, all five kids were ready for their bed. I think the most exciting part for the kids was the mascot!

Kiddie Kandids

Don't mind the bad quality, I took a picture of the original picture :)

On Tuesday, I took Paxton for his two year pictures. That is one thing I have tried to be really good at. So far I have taken both of them for all of their birthday pics. I also wanted one of the two of them together.
You can't tell by the pictures, but Paxton did not want to sit up there and cooperate. The lady was able to get him to smile by tickling him with a feather.

Blankie Boy

Both of my kids have their special blankies. I absolutely love watching Paxton hold his blankie. He loves to wrap it around his finger and rub it. Recently we were at Marshall's. I had stopped to look at something and looked over at Paxton. He had grabbed a soft shirt and started doing this to the shirt! He must have been really desperate for his blankie!

Their Thing

These three really enjoy their little hobby together. Recently we got the new game for the Wii called "Wii Sports Resort." It is such a fun interactive game. Paxton can even swing the controller around and play a little. These kids will have no choice but to like video games with Mike as their dad :)

Success!

Today was Lyric's last day of swim lessons. It was 100% different than last year! Thank goodness. She loved every minute of it. There ended up being two others kids in the class with her. The only downfall was that she ended up having four different teachers! Oh well, I know she still learned a lot. I am amazed at how quickly she transformed from floaties to swimming on her own!
On the last day they have the kids jump off of the diving board. It is a little intimidating because the pool is so big! She did great and loved it!

Unusual

This is quite the usual site around our house. My kids do not ever just fall asleep like this!
This was a result of too many early mornings for this little boy! He is trying to compete with his sister, whose lovely schedule has been having her wake up around 5:45-6:00! He just doesn't quite have the stamina she does, and I don't either!

Owie

In the ER waiting to get stitches!
That evening at home, bandaged up.
Three days later.
Six days later, the day his stitches were taken out.
Last week, we were privileged enough to take Paxton to the ER for the first time. Almost daily, Mike plays baseball outside with the kids. He has a tee for them, and they each have their own bat. They take turns hitting the balls off of the tee. Lyric was about to swing, when Mike told her to wait. It was all done too fast, and the bat hit him square in the forehead. I was in the house when I hear Mike come in. I could tell something was wrong. I walked out and wanted to pass out when I saw Paxton. I couldn't tell where he was hurt because his whole face was covered in blood.
We hoped in the car and were off to the ER. I don't like going there for any old problem, but I had a feeling this needed stitches. The whole process was only two hours, which is pretty good for the ER! After it was cleaned up, I was amazed how a wound that small could bleed so much! My shirt was covered in blood, so while we were there people were looking at me probably wondering if I had just been in a murder scene! The poor guy did so good until they started doing the stitches. The "topical" they put on his forehead must have done just that, barely numb the first layer of skin!
They had to wrap him in a sheet while Mike held him at the top, and a nurse held him at the bottom. I couldn't watch. Hearing him was bad enough. I stayed in the room, but I just turned around. The older I get, the more stuff like that makes me feel a little woozy! Three stitches later, and we were ready to go.
A week later, we were able to get the stitches taken out. I'm impressed with how well it looks. I'm OK if a little scar is left, his daddy has one in the same spot :)
We now have a new rule, the person not up to bat has to stand by the tree where bats and balls can't hit them!

Two?

The little boy who made this mess wouldn't happen to be two, would he? Lyric and Mike were on a date night, so I think Paxton got a little bored without his sister. He probably figured he had scored when he found a container filled with lots of cool balls (eggs).
The same evening he somehow deleted all of the show on our DVR. I really wanted to strangle him for that one! There were so many "precious" movies and shows on there that I can't get back! Pathetic, I know. Mike and I have come to love, and don't know how we watched TV before we got DVR!
I just know I probably have a good two years ahead of me with his terrible twos, and then horrific threes! I say that because Lyric's threes were by far harder than her twos.

Boys and Their Toys

Paxton loves bringing the outdoor bikes inside. I don't blame him, I wouldn't want to ride around in the 110 degree heat either! This morning he was cruising around the house in the nude, his preferred choice of clothing, or lack there of.
The potty is now his greatest enemy and a poopy diaper immediately comes off, which leads to a quick tubby to rise off his lower half! I knew his interest in the toilet would be short lived!
