Illnesses

In the waiting room keeping herself busy!

She had to wear these little bracelets with all of her information on them

Waiting for the doctor!

Well, I have definitely been MIA for a while now! Not for any exciting reason other than a little illness that has infested my home! Last Saturday, Lyric got hit with some nasty bug. I started feeling it coming on too, but thank goodness it stayed very mild and went away fairly quick.

Well, by yesterday I started to get a little worried about Lyric. She went from the vomiting to diarrhea with no appetite for food or liquids. When she got up from her nap she was acting very lethargic and did not even want to drink anything. Now, I am not an overreacting type of parent, but I just did not feel right about her up leaving. I just wanted the peace of mind that she was not dehydrated or something. So, after Jamie reassuring me that it was not too extreme to take her to the ER, we ended leaving.

You would have thought they were giving away winning lottery tickets with how disgustingly full the waiting room was! I just kept telling myself it was worth the peace of mind and would end soon! I must say time can pass rather quickly while people watching. If you are ever bored, the ER can be a pretty entertaining place to people watch, with ALL walks of life.

Well, seven hours later, we were gone! The guy told us we actually had a "short" wait! Everything ended up checking out fine. Of course, by the time they got to us, Lyric seemed a whole lot better, so they probably chalked me up to a psychotically paranoid mom! Oh well, one of the nurses made me feel a lot better by telling me I was just following my instincts as a mom.

Lyric did so incredibly well the whole time. I just had to keep reminding her to stay off of the disease ridden floor. I definitely felt my OCD germophobia coming out! Today she seems a smidgen better. Jamie and Beth were nice enough to bring by some juice, Gatorade, and popsicles to at least keep her hydrated.

Flashback Friday

Once again, my scanner is still not working, so this is not that old of a picture, just one I had on my computer. This is one of my favorite pictures of Lyric. She is nine months old. She was, and still is, such a happy baby. Around eight to nine months has been one of my favorite ages with Lyric so far. She seemed fairly easy, couldn't crawl or walk, just content sitting and playing. We'll see if I feel the same when Paxton gets there!

Dance Class Begins

Today Lyric started dance class back up. She finished the summer class a few weeks ago. This year she is in the the 3-4 year old Tap/Ballet. She was SO excited this morning when I told her that she had dance class today.

It is amazing to see the progress she has made in the past year. When she first started, I didn't know if I was going to be able to stick with it! She was just entering a whole new phase that didn't mesh well with having to listen to a teacher and be humane to other kids! She now just watches the teacher with such intensity and copies every detail. I love watching her enjoy something so much!
When I got out of the shower today, this is what I saw. Lyric was "sharing" multiple items from her stroller with Paxton! It was so cute. She just loves her baby brother to pieces!

Shots :(

Paxton had a doctor's appointment today. I thought it was just going to be one shot, but it turned out to be five plus the oral Rota-virus one! I am glad I did not know this going in, I would have been a nervous wreck all morning! They decided to combine his one and two month shots together since he is so close to two months already.

He weighed in at 15 lb 4 oz, which is in the 97th %tile, and was 23 3/4 inches long, which is in the 75th %tile. I always get excited for doctor's visits to see where the height and weight is at, yet I have this heavy feeling all day dreading the shots! He did farely well and has been sleeping most of the day.

Lyric & Paxton

Lyric has recently become what Mike and I like to call a bag lady! She takes her stroller all over the house and will collect anything she finds. It is hilarious to see her pushing all over the house looking for more "junk" to collect. She gets so frustrated when the stroller gets too full to hold anymore! A few times a day, she likes to strategically place EVERYTHING from her stroller onto the couch.
Lyric is such a happy girl who loves to laugh and make others laugh. The other day she came out and showed me she had put Paxton's pants on! She thought it was the funniest thing, and it gave me a pretty good laugh too!
I am getting excited that Paxton is getting to a point where his interest can be held for about 5 minutes! The first time I laid him on his play mat, he couldn't have cared less. The other night, he actually was curiously looking around for a tiny bit. This mat was a sanity saver with Lyric, and I am sure it will be with him too.
I absolutely love how Paxton's hair looks right when he gets out of the tub! Mike always says he looks like he has been given a perm. I hope his curls stay! He loves the tub so much. I only wish they would invent something for the parents to prevent your back from breaking as you bend over the tub!

Flashback Friday

My "Flashback Friday" picture is from October 2004. I was 7 1/2 months pregnant with Lyric. Jamie was visiting Utah and threw me a shower at Katie's house. I felt so huge, but looking at this picture, I was probably this big at 3 months pregnant with Paxton! I know this isn't a huge flashback, but my printer was not working to scan in an older picture!

So Cal

This past weekend, Jamie and I took a whirlwind 36 hour trip to visit some family. It is amazing how much luggage is required for such a short amount of time! My cousin Michael and Aracely were nice enough to let us bombard them with our 5 children! It was very busy, but also very nice to see family that we don't get to see often enough.

I have so many memories of visiting relatives with my siblings and my parents, and now I am doing it with my grown siblings and my own children!

Flashback Friday

So, this picture is from October 2002. I had just moved to Utah to live with Jamie and Tucker and help watch Jordyn while Jamie worked from home. That literally seems like a lifetime ago! I guess in a sense it was! No spouse, no kids, no worries! J/K :)

1-2-3!

Lyric loves making towers out of blocks with Mike. Lately they have been "Princess Towers." They have a tradition after each tower they make, they say "1-2-3," and then crazily destroy the tower! It is so cute to watch. Lyric gets so excited every time they do it.

Buddies

Not much to say tonight! Here's Lyric and Paxton hanging out on the chair tonight.

Randomness

Nothing new or too exciting has been happening around here lately! Lyric has discovered that getting water on your face is not all that bad. Up until now, she would scream when a drop of water got near her eye! I think from seeing her cousins dipping their heads in the water, she gained confidence enough to finally do it. She loves doing it in the tub and always has to have me look and acknowledge her!
Mike was gone yesterday, so I decided to take Paxton and Lyric to Marshall's and Target. I didn't really NEED anything, but I just did not want to sit in the house all day! I still do not love letting Lyric walk when we're shopping. It takes twice as long I know that she would be kidnapped and gone forever with how much she gets distracted and wanders off. I laughed yesterday when I put her in the back of the cart at Marshall's because they are so ridiculously small! She was ok with it because she got beloved Princess "lipstick" (chap stick.)

Tonight Lyric was playing phone with Paxton. She would put one up to her ear and one up to his. It was too cute! I cannot wait until he can start interacting back with her!

Flashback Friday

I think I am going to join the Flashback Friday "Club." I love reminiscing at old pictures!

This one is of my best friend, Tiffani, and I. We were in a play called "It's a Small World." I think we were about nine years old. Growing up, I loved being in plays. I think I was in about six or seven through our community's theater guild. It was so much fun.

Growing Like a Weed

It almost seems a bit scary how fast Paxton is growing! I swear that I can literally see it happening by the hour! He is starting to unfold and I am getting tiny little glimpses of his cute little personality. People always get a surprised look on their face when I tell them he is 1 month old. Starting out at ten pounds did give him a bit of a jump start in the chunk department! I just love it!

I am also pleased everyday by how incredibly sweet Lyric is with Paxton. She just loves to help in any way she can. She'll wipe his face off when he spits up, she'll help hold his bottle, and she'll try to console him when he is upset. She loves just laying next to him and talking to him.

Four Weeks Old!

Paxton is four weeks old today. It has actually gone by really fast. I am already able to look at those first few weeks and feel grateful that they are over. Not that everything is smooth sailing now or anything! I feel like I have been put into a whole new category as a mom with two kids.

Jamie took these pictures tonight with my camera at my mom's house. Saying that Peyton is obsessed with Paxton would be an understatement. She can hardly contain herself whenever she sees him! It is the cutest thing in the world. It is almost as though you can tell that they saw each other not too long ago!
